The Signs of Morning Sickness
The first signs of morning sickness are often greeted with a groan by a newly pregnant woman. If you've never had morning sickness before, you're nevertheless sure to have heard all about it. And if you've experienced it before, you'll know that at best it's an inconvenience and at worst it can really disrupt your daily life.
How Likely Am I To Get Morning Sickness?
Hmmm...you may not like the answer to this. I'm afraid that more than 50% of pregnant women get morning sickness in pregnancy...and in fact the figure may be as high as 80%. But the comforting thing is that it's regarded as totally normal: it doesn't indicate any problem or abnormality. In fact, women who didn't get morning sickness used to be worried in case there was something wrong.
What Are the Signs of Morning Sickness?
The first thing to say is that the signs of morning sickness can vary greatly from one person to the next. For some women it is just a little nausea, and it doesn't have to be in the morning, although this is most common: it can occur at any time of the day. It usually starts around the 5th or 6th week of pregnancy and for quite a lot of us it's the very first sign of pregnancy.Nausea and vomiting are the most obvious signs of morning sickness but there are two other signs that are widely experienced. One is increased mood swings and the other is a heightened sense of smell. If you notice either or both of these, then it may be that very shortly afterwards you will begin to experience some morning sickness. Of course, if your sense of smell is more acute than normal, then you are more like to be nauseated by certain foods or substances.

Finding a Cure for Morning Sickness
OK, so it turns out you're one of the unlucky many who suffer from it, but the question you really want answered is, “Is there a cure for morning sickness?" Online and elsewhere you'll find many recommendations. I'd never had any nausea with my first pregnancy so it had been a real shock when my second pregnancy announced itself with early morning dashes to the bathroom. The best solution I found was to have a dry cream cracker or oatcake in a little plastic container next to the bed. When I woke up in the morning, before I moved more than my arm, I'd reach out and grab the box, then slowly eat the cracker, then lie for about 15 minutes more before getting up. It seemed to help a lot - until I started getting the nausea through the day as well. That was harder to solve. At first it was mild but then it got really bad until it was lasting almost all day and was restricting my life considerably.I was really fed up with it! I began to search for a natural remedy for morning sickness and soon had tried ginger, several different herbal remedies and a homoeopathic remedy. Some did actually reduce the symptoms but nothing took the awful nausea away completely. Finally I spotted a tiny section of a web page that suggested an E-book about how to cure morning sickness. I downloaded it and allowed the dishes to go unwashed while I sat and read it. This time, thank goodness, I'd found the solution and a few days later I was free of all signs of morning sickness and nausea, and I stayed that way for the rest of my pregnancy. Phew! That E-book is still available and I thoroughly recommend getting your own copy. The lady who wrote it offers a cast iron guarantee that if it doesn't work, you can get your money back, but she reckons over 90% of those who try it find that it works well for them. There are lots of testimonials on her page, so take heart – there really is a cure for morning sickness that works for 90%+ of us!
