A Healthy Pregnancy Diet

It is said that a healthy pregnancy diet is one of the most important ways to make sure that your baby grows well in the womb and to avoid maternal health problems.

Ensuring the right nutrition in pregnancy isn't always intuitive, though, so most of us have to do a little research on the best foods for nourishing ourselves and our babies.

On this page I tell you about the best books I've come across that will help you achieve a healthy pregnancy diet without having to give up the things you love.
The one I enjoyed using the most in my kitchen is called Healthy Eating for Pregnancy by Amanda Grant. Amanda has written several excellent books on nutrition and cookery and is not just a cookery writer but a broadcaster as well. She is great at separating fact from fiction and telling you exactly what is safe and good to eat, from seafood and salads to meat and sweet dishes. Over 60 recipes for all your meals are found in this clear and easy book. I love it!

The second book I'm going to recommend is one that has some surprising but incredibly useful information in it. It's not the snappiest title...The 100 Healthiest Foods to Eat During Pregnancy: The Surprising, Unbiased Truth About Foods You Should Be Eating During Pregnancy but Probably Aren't but it highlights certain foods that are really critical for fetal health that most of us probably don't have in our diets. I found it easy to add these foods and felt so grateful that I'd found out about them.

The third book I found really useful is by Kimberley Tessner and is called The Everything Pregnancy Nutrition Book: What To Eat To Ensure A Healthy PregnancyThis is a bouncy, jaunty, practical and very helpful guide to designing a diet for pregnancy that will include all the essential foods and still provide meals to look forward to. I liked her style of writing and the price is good too!

I can definitely recommend all these three books on pregnancy nutrition : they are very reassuring to have on your bookshelf and I referred to mine often. I hope you enjoy them too - and have a great pregnancy!
