Exercise During Pregnancy

Exercise

If you are active there is no reason why you still can’t exercise during pregnancy. Exercise can actually help you increase your fitness and stamina and help you to cope with the labour and birth. Listen to your body and stop exercising when it tells you to. It will probably not be until the final stages of your pregnancy that you feel too uncomfortable to exercise.

There are special exercises that you can do during pregnancy like pelvic floor exercises. The weight of your baby places a great weight on the muscles of your pelvic floor. It is important to strengthen these muscles during your pregnancy to prevent tearing in labour and also after the birth to aid recovery.

Many mums-to-be go to special yoga classes during pregnancy and this can bring many benefits. Your yoga teacher will be able to advise you on which postures are suitable and safe for you.

You might also want to opt for doing Pilates during your pregnancy: it can be tremendously beneficial and can also help your body to get back to normal quickly once your baby is born.
